Saturday the 4th of May - 19:00. The Ballad of Joe Hill, written & directed by Bo Widerberg

“I dreamed I saw Joe Hill last night, alive as you and me…” the life of Joe Hill has inspired songs and folk myths, books and poetry. Swedish immigrant worker in the USA, IWW union organizer, songwriter, Joe Hill was executed Nov 1915 in Salt Lake City for a crime he did not commit.

Wednesday the 1st of May. Bristol Bath and Gloucester CPB invite you celebrate May Day with comrades and friends by joining in our Big Red Quiz at the Nova Scotia Public House , Bristol, BS1 6XJ. Wednesday May 1st. First question 8pm sharp. Entry: £1 per head, in teams of 2-4. A prize for the winning team.

Saturday the 4th of May - 11:00. Bristol Trades Union Council have called a Bristol May Day demo on Saturday 4th May. They will be protesting against all cuts and privatisation including the Bedroom Tax & benefit cuts, the privatisation of the NHS & Academy schools & cuts to local services by the mayor. Assemble on College Green.

Monday 6th May - 19:00. Dorchester, Weymouth and Portland TUC are showing Ken Loach's new film "Spirit of '45". The film is an impassioned documentary about how the spirit of unity which buoyed Britain during the war years carried through to create a vision of a fairer, united society. Dorchester Corn Exchange with doors opening at 7pm.

Saturday the 4th of May. This year we will hold our Mayday festival in an exiting new venue, the Devonport Guildhall! The festival will take place on Saturday 4th May, running from noon to midnight, and will be themed 'Trades Unions for a Sustainable Future'.

Sunday the 5th of May - 13:00. Rally and political discussion. Assemble on the former balloon site, near the corner of Belgrave Road - Torquay Seafront. Speakers from: Local trade unions, anti-Cuts and Occupy, local left-wing parties.

Friday the 26th of April. Yeovil TUC presents, for International workers day, the Banner Theatre Company "1st of May Band - Fighting the Cuts". At the Unity Hall, Central Road, Yeovil BA20 1JL Friday 26th April 2013. Doors open 7pm for 8pm start, interval and speakers 8:45pm - 9:15pm performance finishes around 10 pm followed by discussion.
