Part of the national Speaking Tour "Capitalism, the Labour Movement and Socialism" is the theme of a public meeting in Yeovil on Thursday 27 September, called by the Somerset Branch of the Communist Party. The speaker is Rob Griffiths, General Secretary of the party, and Liz Payne (the party's National Women's Organiser) will be in the chair.

Somerset branch secretary Ken Keable, of Stoke-sub-Hamdon, said, "With the capitalist system clearly in crisis and with rising levels of poverty, unemployment and homelessness alongside unparalleled wealth for the super-rich, there has never been a more appropriate time to discuss the socialist alternative to the capitalist system. As long as the profit motive is king, we cannot solve the problem of climate change nor abolish war and the threat of war."

The meeting, open to all, starts at 7pm at Unity Hall, Central Road, Yeovil BA20 1JL (opposite the bus station). Admission is free.
